About Me
When I was four years old, I begged my mom for violin lessons because I thought it looked like so much fun! Now, with more than 20 years of experience, two degrees in violin performance, and countless opportunities to play around the world, I can definitely say that four-year-old me was right!
I recently completed a master’s degree in music at the Rotterdam Conservatory (Codarts) in The Netherlands where I studied under world-renowned violinists Igor Gruppman, former concertmaster of the Rotterdam Philharmonic, and Vesna-Stefanovich Gruppman, an award-winning pedagogue and performer. I also hold a bachelor’s degree in violin performance from the University of Utah where I studied with David Park, a sought after soloist and former associate concertmaster of the Utah Symphony. During my studies, I enjoyed performing with my friends and colleagues as concertmaster of the Utah Philharmonia, with the O.C. Tanner Honors String Quartet, and with OTRA (an Orquesta Típica in Rotterdam that performs Argentine-style tango).
One of the things I love about the violin is the opportunity it’s given me to perform and meet new people around the world. I have performed in Japan, Germany, The Netherlands, Greece, Canada, the Dominican Republic, Argentina, and throughout the United States. Additionally, some of my favorite musical memories have been closer to home, including performing the Bruch Violin Concerto with the Utah Valley Symphony, recording soundtracks for new films and video games, and performing with such artists as The Piano Guys, Marshall McDonald, and Jenny Oaks Baker, among others.
At the age of 21, I joined the Orchestra at Temple Square, part of the Tabernacle Choir organization. With this talented group of musicians, I tour, record, and perform extensively, including weekly performances of the live broadcast of Music & The Spoken Word (the longest-running national radio program in the world). With the orchestra, I have performed and recorded with artists including Sissel Kyrkjebø, Michael Maliakel, Kelli O’Hara, and more, and recently returned from a travel assignment to perform in Argentina.
Beyond my busy performance schedule, I love working with my private violin students. From children to adults, and beginners to advanced players, I love helping everyone develop a beautiful sound and find the joy of music. Seeing my students progress and create beautiful music always puts a smile on my face.
